Mandela Day 2018
Modi Mall supplied 176 children from the Abraham Kriel Children's Home with lunch, sweetie packets, fruits and cold drinks as well as socks, underwear and facecloths.
500 5kg bags of mealie maize was donated to SASSA customers collecting their grants from the Net One finance store.
Nyliefees 2018
All funds generated from the festival will be ploughed back into the Nylstroom community to alleviate and prevent poverty.
Ons Hoop Old Age Home Christmas Celebration
Ons Hoop Old Age Home have 28 elderly persons who have no income and only receive a small pension. Most of them have no family and are dependent on the community for visits and donations.
In conjunction with the SAPS Women’s League and MTN Modi Mall we were able to surprise and spoil the elderly with Christmas gifts.
Mandela Day 2019
In honour of the legacy of Mandela Day, various schools in the area recieved jerserys, uniforms, school shoes and grocery donations from Modi Mall.
Bless a Baby – Pack a Nappy Bag – Women’s Day 2019
In celebration of Women's Day 2019, the staff and tenants of Modi Mall joined forces to create nappy bags for underprivileged new mothers in the area. The bags consisted of nappies, clothing and blankets for the newborns in the maternity ward.
Modi Mall Street Store 2019
Whilst an actual value of the Street Store can't be determined, the hope and positivity that it brought to the community has to be acknowledged. Clothing was donated by community members and food was generously donated by our anchor tenant, Shoprite.
Klein Magetryn Pre-School Athletics Day
This is an annual event to get the Pre-schools in the Waterberg Region to join the first official athletics day for Gr RR & Gr R. This was the third year that Modi Mall took part in the event.
CANSA Shavathon
An annual event at Modi Mall, we aim to support this awesome NGO as much as possible. This is the 4th year that CANSA was hosted at Modi Mall.
High School Nylstroom Fundraiser
Checkers requested Modi Mall to identify a school in need. High School Nylstroom was the lucky beneficiary. Modi Mall supplied tables and allocated the space for the fundraiser to take place. Teachers and learners had do bake the pancakes and all funds raised were donated to the school.
COVID-19 Hand-Sanitising Stands
To assist the community of Modi Mall in the fight against COVID-19, a hand-sanitising stand was made and placed at the entrance of the mall to ensure customers were able to sanitise effectively before entering the centre.
No Mask No Entry
In May 2020 Modi Mall created the opportunity for two pensioners and a young designer from the township to earn an income by making and selling masks for Modi Mall shoppers. This was a welcome income for all parties who were otherwise unemployed.
Modimolle Food Drive
In response to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and to ensure that no one went hungry during this period, various role players in Modimolle came together to coordinate and centralise food relief efforts. Modi Mall made a donation towards the food drive that feeds approximately 200 families a month.
Elderly Goodie Bag Handouts
In December Modi Mall handed out goodie bags filled with spoils to the elderly at Ons Hoop Old age home, the Modi Mall car guards and the elderly Spreading the Love old age home.
2021 Pensioner Cup-a-Soup
In April, May and June 2021, Modi Mall donated soup to pensioners waiting for their SASSA grants at the centre.
MAWEC- Modimolle Animal Welfare Centre & Pet Community Outreach
Modi Mall partnered with MAWEC (Modimolle Animal Welfare Centre) to provide free sterilisation for dogs and cats in the community. Local veterinarians from CCS and veterinary students from UNISA performed the sterilisations in a sterile area cordonned off at the mall. All vaccinations and sterilisations were done for free.
Mandela Day 2021
In July 2021, Modi Mall sponsored uniforms, scarves and beanies to local community members in addition to the school uniforms and equipment donated to Doornfontein Primary.
Back to School 2022
Assorted back to school donations of stationery, toys, uniforms and equipment were donated to Modimolle, Eenheid and Sonstraal Primary Schools.
