#Maskup in the fight against COVID-19
Exemplar REITail launched a “home-sewn” initiative to help stimulate township economies and get masks to as many under-privileged South Africans as possible in March 2020.
The #MasksforGood awareness campaign was implemented across the portfolio, in all five provinces, to encourage South Africans to #maskup.
The #MasksforGood campaign saw Exemplar supplying local seamstresses with 50m of medical grade cotton fabric, a pattern and instructions on how to sew the masks. Exemplar then bought back the masks from these township micro-entrepreneurs and distributed them to local communities for free.
