Kasi CoLAB
The Kasi CoLAB is a retail incubator that provides local design entrepreneurs access to market and capital that they would not normally have. The CoLAB allows local start-ups the opportunity to trade from a prime retail location, rent free, for 12 months with the ultimate goal of them becoming successful individual tenants in their own rights.
Reahola Farming Co-Op
The Reahola Co-op is a pilot market-gardens project established to ensure local upliftment and job creation for five local farmers who were provided with land, equipment and seedlings to launch the project.
Specific space was allocated to them along the lower boundary of the Mall of Thembisa to create micro-gardens to grow spinach, beetroot, baby marrow and other seasonal vegetables.
We are working closely with the farmers to ensure adequate training and guidance to allow them to eventually become completely independent.
Back to School 2021
The Mall of Thembisa donated donated 14 pairs of school shoes, 14 school bags,14 pairs of school trousers and 14 school shirts to the Siyagabisa Home as part of Mandela Day 2021.
A donation of 20 stationery packs, 6 pairs of school shoes, 6 pairs of trousers and shirts and 6 school bags was also made to the Charlotte Mmifi Foundation.
Umuntu Umuntu Ngabantu
The Mall of Thembisa donated 5 food parcels to families with zero income at extension 8. A donation of 100 care kits was also made to Grade 7 girls at Mpumelelo Primary School.
This campaign also saw a home being built for a family at EXT8. The beneficiary is a family of 6, with 4 children and two unemployed parents who were living in despicable conditions in a single room. The room was extended and more space created in an attempt to create a more comfortable living experience for the family.
Kasi CoLAB 2021
The success of the Kasi CoLAB continues at the Mall of Thembisa, with the designers continuing to improve from strength to strength in both business acumen and creativity.
The Mall continues to provide free rental to the members of the CoLAB.
Reahola Apron Donation
The Mall of Thembisa sponsored aprons for the Reahola farming team in order for them to be well represented when they sell their produce.
Kasi CoLAB Directional Site Board 2021
In order to increase brand awareness and presence for the Kasi CoLAB team, the Mall of Thembisa sponsored directional signage for the store.
The board was printed and installed in the lower level parking of the Mall, which ensure excellent visibility for passing traffic.
Back to School 2022
The Mall of Thembisa donated 4 school hampers to Inxiweni Primary School.
The hampers included school shoes, t-shirts, socks, trousers and school bags. Book covers were also donated to the school in order to ensure the learners books could look good all year.
Reahola Christmas Donation
Funds were donated to the Reahola Farming Co-op in order for them to be able to celebrate Christmas with their families and loved ones.
Reahola Branding Assistance
The Mall of Thembisa assisted the Reahola Farming Co-op with branding elements including pull up banners and table clothes in order for them to be able to sell their produce directly to customers.
Weave Connect Micro Learning 2021
Mall of Thembisa sponsored the launch of Weave at the Kasi CoLAB in August 2021 as well as the monthly internet costs for the programme to be run at the CoLAB.
Weave Connect and Exemplar REITail are partnering to fight unemployment through the provision of free micro-learning courses for all. The programme was launched at the Mall of Thembisa in August and customers have access to a computer lab in the CoLAB where they can complete the short courses.
2021 Reahola Site Board Donation
In order to provide the Reahola farming co-op with improved brand visibility and recognition, the Mall of Thembisa sponsored a site board for them at their fields.
The board also has a blackboard section which allows the farmers to post their daily specials.
2021 Mandela Day
In honour of Mandela Day 2021, the Mall of Thembisa donated food hampers to the communities of EXT8, Duduza, Tswelopele and Winnie Mandela in Thembisa, Gauteng.
