Greater Edendale Mall partnered with Epworth GHS and identified 81 girls in Edendale who each received a year’s supply worth of sanitary pads.
Sanitary Pad Drive with SAPS
During the mornings visit, SAPS officers gave great advice to the learners about crime, abuse and human trafficking. They also received an interactive talk about puberty, sex and touching others inappropriately.
Drop-A-Box Campaign - Back to School
Edendale Mall’s Tenants came on board and we managed donate a further 20 pairs of school shoes and socks to Philani Primary School in Kwapata.
Izimbali Crech in Kwapata also received educational toys from collections that Greater Edendale Mall did over the Festive Season.
Whizzkids United’s GAME CHANGERS program also received back packs and stationery from Edendale Mall.

Having 7 establishments to deliver to, we managed to have all our restaurants help to donate lunch and drinks to each one.
Edendale Eyethu helped with gathering various colours of paint and painting material so that TEAM GEM could paint Nkonjaneni Day Care facility inside and out.
A total of 110 kids were fed to celebrate Madiba’s 100th birthday.

Back to School 2019
January 2019 saw 75 students from Khuphukami Private School benefiting from the introduction of a computer class to their curriculum.
It was a long term dream for the Principle, Mr Ngcobo, and despite many challenges, perseverance paid off.
6 computers and 2 desks were donated by Greater Edendale Mall to assist learners who decide to take the class.
Sanitary Pad Drive 2019
The impact of a girls menstrual cycle on female learners school attendance is well known and unfortunately is a growing problem. Greater Edendale Mall and our Tenants recently embarked on a sanitary pad collection drive to assist 20 female learners. Our focus was to get girls through exams feeling comfortable and confident in writing without worrying about their period embarrassing them.
Drop A Box Campaign 2019
50 new pairs of school shoes were donated to scholars in need at Henryville Primary and High School. Collaborating with Epworth Girls High , Pick N Pay, Steers, Debonairs and members of the public, we were able to assist a total of 80 scholars in supplying school shoes, pizza, lunch boxes and breakfast through our Drop A Box Campaign.
Whizzkids United “Game Changers” also received a total of 10 back packs along with a variation of stationery to prep them for their year of studies.
2019 Winter Warmer Campaign
As part of our winter drive, Greater Edendale Mall collected 55 pairs of slippers, donated by Granny Mouse Country House, and hand delivered them to residents of Emuseni Center for the Aged in Edendale.
Mandela Day 2019
We embarked on a personal journey with our community and Tenants for Mandela Day 2019 in our #actionagainstpoverty campaign.
A donation station was set up at Greater Edendale Mall and customers were encourage to donate their change. With the money raised through this campaign by team ‘GEM’ we were able to build a home for Gogo Bayeng Bawinile (66).
In addition we erected a community vegetable garden, fed a family of 11 and fed and clothed a further 67 elderly ladies.
Edendale Mall 2019 Career Expo
We opened our doors to invite local schools to our 3 day career expo to highlight the opportunities available to the youth. Education is key and bringing PMB’s colleges and institutes together under one roof had a wonderful impact on our community.
Greater Edendale Mall Pension and Disability Grant Day Food Drive
Greater Edendale Mall made over 1 000 cheese and polony sandwiches served with tea for the pensioners of Edendale and surrounds during the April, May and June grant day payouts.. Pick n Pay and Shoprite donated the ingredients that were needed to execute the campaign.
On grant days, pensioners arrive in the early hours of the morning to wait in line for their grants. Most of them leave their homes on empty stomachs and end up waiting for hours on end.
This donation feeds the heart and soul of the community – our elderly.
Greater Edendale Mall Food Parcel Drive
Greater Edendale Mall raised 15 food parcels for the less fortunate community members of Edendale. We approached 2 ward councillors and asked for their assistance in identifying those that are in desperate need of food.
With this donation we were able to feed 15 families in the Edendale community.
Greater Edendale Mall Mask handout
Power Fashion donated 5 000 masks to Greater Edendale Mall during Level 4 of the COVID-19 lockdown. Masks were handed out on busy days to customers walking around without masks or who were wearing disposable surgical masks.
Greater Edendale Mall Winter Warmers Blanket Drive
As part of the July pension pay out day, Greater Edendale Mall handed out warm branded blankets to the pensioners and the disabled while they waited to receive their grant payouts.
Greater Edendale Mall Food Parcel Drive - Christmas in July
With the assistance of two ward councillors who identified families in their communities that were in desperate need of food aid, Greater Edendale Mall was able to hand out 50 food parcels and branded throw blankets to 50 families.
Greater Edendale Mall Mandela Day 2020
As part of Mandela Day 2020, food parcels were handed out to local families. These families' homes were affected by heavy storms in December 2019 and they were living in worn down houses since the incident.
Christmas with Greater Edendale Mall
On the 11th of December Greater Edendale Mall visited the community of Willowfontein – 15 minutes away from the mall. The event was held inside a local community hall where the elderly and children from Willow congregated to receive Christmas goodies and gifts. 130 branded blankets and goodie bags were donated to the elderly and to the kids.
2021 Youth Day
In honour of Youth Day 2021, Greater Edendale Mall donated blankets and hygiene packs, including soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste and facecloths) to Abanqobi base Eden, a drug rehabilitation centre in the area.
2021 birth certificate assistance
Greater Edendale Mall assisted a local family leaving in the area consisting of 21 family members living in a single shack. The management of Greater Edendale Mall assisted the family to secure identity documents and birth certificates in order to be able to claim social grants on a regular basis.
2021 Dignity Pack and Grocery donation
A local beneficiary in need was identified as part of the #GEMcares #ChangeforGood campaign. The family received groceries, blankets and hygiene packs to assist them cope with the challenges of daily life.
In partnership with a local NGO, the centre management was also able to donate a wheelchair to one of the family members in need.
2021 SASSA Handouts
In support of the community who collect their monthly SASSA grants at Greater Edendale Mall, beneficiaries received blankets and hygiene packs while they waited to collect their payouts.
Weave Connect Micro Learning 2021
In partnership with Weave Connect and Exemplar REITail, Greater Edendale Mall is fighting unemployment through the provision of micro-learning. With a vision of providing mobile access to assorted short courses, free to all, this donation contributed to the development of the Weave platform.
