Mandela Day 2018
In honour of Mandela Day 2018, a R10 000 cash donation was made to the Amass Centre for the disabled. Additional sponsorships secured from the tenants included R3 000 worth of bread, clothing sponsorships and assistance from the municipality, tenants, local police, and the fire department to clean the perimeter fence of the centre.
Taxi Driver Appreciation Campaign
Acornhoek Megacity and the Bushbuckridge Taxi Association hosted a taxi driver appreciation day to celebrate an accident free 2019 Festive Season. Funds were donated to the association to ensure the maintenance of their vehicles and thus the safety of our customers travelling with them.
COVID-19 Education and Awareness Campaign
In March 2020, funds were allocated to an education and awareness campaign about the dangers of COVID-19. The community and customers were informed about the risk of infection and spread and more than 200 litres of sanitizer was used to help sanitise customers entering the centre. Volunteers from the community enabled us to monitor social distancing and educate customers about the importance of wearing a mask.
Mandela Day 2020
In honour of Mandela Day 2020, Acornhoek Megacity fed 748 elders. The community members each recieved a warm meal as they queued for their SASSA grant as well as a donation of a 12,5KG bag of maize.
Mandela Day 2021
For Mandela Day 2021, Acornhoek Megacity revamped the Mosebi Daycare Centre.
The centre recieved a fresh coat of paint, new roofing and waterproofing and some shelving.
